AIR CURTAIN SYSTEMS
AREAAir Curtain Systems have been used extensively
for ‘Sea-Wreck’ Containment, Sediment Containment
(during dredging operations), Oil Spill Containment,
Deicingand more. The principle behind the Air
Curtain Systems is that air released underwater will
achieve a velocity of 1 ft/sec2 as it rises. The
water in advance of the bubbles is pushed to the
surface and therefore velocity is imparted to the
water. The vertical velocity of the water becomes
horizontal once the water reaches the surface. This
keeps any material on the surface away from our Air
Curtain. There is no physical obstruction to entry
or egress ... there is nothing to move as would be
the case with booms or weed gates traditionally
used. Many or most canals and/or marinas are man
made. The result is a disruption of the coastline
allowing for deposition of ‘Sea Wreck’ where it
would not normally occur - our Air Curtain Systems
artificially re-established the coastline allowing
the ‘Sea Wreck’ to move to where it would have had
the canal or marina not been constructed.
Our
Air Curtain Systems are driven by one (1) of our
Rotron Regenerative Blowers. The Model and
Horsepower will vary depending on our Air Curtain
System designed. Rotron Regenerative Blowers are the
oldest regenerative blower and is the leader in
providing low pressure / high volume air. These
units are quiet with the only moving part being two
bearings. They are manufactured of cast aluminum and
are designed for saline environments. They operate
for 4.5 to 5 years continuous duty without any
maintenance with the exception of cleaning the air
filter and/or replacing the filter cartridge. At 4.5
to 5.0 years, a bearing change will be required.
AERATION
SYSTEMS
AREA ‘Modern Air’ Aeration Systems have been used
extensively for Odor Control From Hydrogen Sulfide,
Improve Water Clarity, Improve Water Quality,
Eliminate Bottom Sediment and more. This is achieved
by establishing an aerobic cap on the bottom
sediments resulting in oxidation/reduction of same.
The aerobic cap allows aerobic organisms and aquatic
life to return to the bottom which previously was
anaerobic (non-oxygen bearing). Due to the lack of
oxygen, benthic organisms (lobsters, crabs, etc...)
were forced to leave this area. Our Aeration Systems
also reduce in the rate of boat bottom fouling
organisms and dock damage during the ice in the
winter (for northern clients).
Our
Aeration Systems utilize our 4 x 6 Free Standing
Diffuser Grids that are ‘H’ shape. The ‘H’ shape was
developed because of its’ chimney effect in which
the water above the units is displaced by the air
rising from the diffusers. This then draws water
from underneath the units without suspending the
bottom organic sediments. Our grids are extremely
efficient in Oxygen Transfer and Destratification of
the water in terms of both Oxygen and Temperature.
Each
Aeration System is operated by our ‘Modern Air’
Quiet Series Air Compressors. Our compressors were
designed for homeowner associations and cannot be
heard while in operation. They were also developed
to operate continuous duty with no maintenance. Each
system comes will necessary peripherals to ensure
efficient and effective operation.
